McKesson recognizes the importance of providing a comprehensive package of benefits to our employees. Our benefits offerings provide employees with the resources and tools they need to thrive both in their jobs and their everyday lives.
At McKesson, our You. Even better. approach to health, wellness and employee benefits provides a variety of healthy living resources aimed to achieve better health. We believe that when our employees are healthy, they enjoy life more and do their best work. Our employees have the opportunity to participate in the following health and wellness resources:
- A free biometric screening
- A free online health assessment
- A free activity tracker linked to our wellness program incentives
- Subsidized gym membership fees
- Free Weight Watchers membership
- Free Quit for Life smoking cessation program, including nicotine replacement therapy
- 100% coverage for preventive care, including onsite flu shots
- Easy access to online tools and resources
In addition, McKesson provides an environment where healthy choices are at employees’ fingertips. All of our onsite cafeterias offer “better for you” dining options with items such as brown rice, grilled chicken, and reduced fat cheese. Smart snacks such as carrot sticks, baked chips and pretzels are offered to help employees meet their nutritional goals. Employees can also take advantage of discount programs with fitness centers to burn a few extra calories before or after work, or at whatever time best meets their schedule.
In recognition of our robust You. Even better. program, McKesson was recently given the platinum award for one of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles by the National Business Group on Health.
Part of our You. Even better. offering includes easy access to our comprehensive wellness program, Vitality. This program develops personalized wellness plans and goals for employees and their families, based on results from their biometric screenings and health assessments. Each goal is supported by an action plan with recommended activities and completion criteria. Once a goal is achieved, the participant is typically presented with a maintenance goal to encourage ongoing healthy behavior throughout the plan year.
Vitality rewards employees and their families for continual and ongoing efforts toward sustained behavioral changes. As employees and their families participate in healthy activities, such as walking 10,000 steps per day or getting preventive health screenings, they enjoy the benefits of healthier living and earn Vitality Points, which can be redeemed for rewards and discounted medical premiums.
Our health and wellness plan is focused on full engagement, from our CEO and executive committee to the operations teams to each individual employee. One way that we measure the ongoing success of our benefits offerings is to survey our employees. In our Employee Opinion Survey (EOS), McKesson employees are asked how McKesson’s benefits compare to other companies and if the benefits program fits their needs. For the fourth year in a row, employee feedback has helped us achieve recognition as one of Towers Watson’s “Global High Performance” companies – a select group of organizations that combine outstanding survey results with industry-leading financial performance.
McKesson also considers compensation to be a vital tool for communicating performance expectations, improving productivity and rewarding employees for their contributions to the company’s success. Whatever an employee’s title or role, each employee acts as a catalyst in a chain of events that help improve the healthcare of millions of people all over the globe. That’s why we believe it is important to recognize and reward strong individual and team contributions that help us drive innovations and solutions that promote better health for all. We believe that our competitive compensation program helps to attract, retain and motivate a high-performance workforce, gives employees the opportunity to share in ownership of the company, and remains flexible enough to meet the different needs of our diverse employee population.
